About Andrew
Andrew Eppler is a seasoned practitioner of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, with a passion that spans over three decades. As the director of Ashtanga Yoga Studio and the visionary behind the acclaimed Mysore Yoga Traditions Film, Andrew has dedicated his life to the transformative power of yoga. He has witnessed firsthand the evolution of yoga into a global cultural phenomenon.
Andrew is a student of the philosophy of the Nathamuni Sampradaya tradition, to which the legendary Sri Krishnamacharya belonged. Collaborating with esteemed Sanskrit professors in Mysore, he has developed a contemporary approach to teaching physical postures that resonates with the modern world.
A dedicated student of yoga, Andrew is deeply committed to preserving the ancient texts and sacred yogic traditions of Mysore, India. His passion extends to honoring the great scholars who carry forward this profound wisdom.
While honoring the essence of traditional philosophy and the sacred sequences of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Andrew embraces the natural evolution of this ancient practice. Drawing inspiration from diverse yoga communities worldwide, he engages in ongoing research and refinement, fusing the most effective techniques to create a complete yoga experience, appropriate for people from all cultures, religions and social backgrounds.
For Andrew, yoga is an ever-evolving process, and his mission is to ignite a lifelong love affair with the practice within each student. He guides practitioners to cultivate their own evolving and healing journey, one that can be cherished as both a solitary practice and a harmonious collaboration with fellow yogis, while staying grounded in the traditional sequences of Ashtanga Yoga.

Then we will move into a half-hour warm-up using self-massage and somatic movement. 🌀Saturday 12:45-2:15 pm: Mudra/Bandha and Breath After asana practice, we will move on to more subtle practices.
The Bandhas we use in Ashtanga Yoga are derived from Mudra practices. We will explore the subject of Mudra and the specific exercises that correspond to the Bandhas. Mudra is a vast branch of yoga and involves a very diverse set of practices. Through these techniques, students can gain a much better understanding of what the bandhas do and the role they play with breath.
These practices lay a foundation for Asana, and they are essential for practicing Pranayama.

Intermediate postures can help to create a more balanced practice and take us through the limitations that hold us back in Primary Series. The aim of this class is to demystify the 2nd series and to inspire students to take their practices further.
🌀Sunday 12:45-2:30 pm: Sunday Afternoon - Ashtanga Darshan In our final session, Andrew will speak on Yoga Philosophy.
Drawing from years of experience with the Sanskrit Scholars of Mysore, he will express his views on what yoga means and how to define “traditional practice.” We will discuss the relationship between the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali Sutras and how the timeless teachings of yoga apply to our modern paradigm.
