Yana Selitskaya
Yoga came into my life in 2012, since 2016 I have been practicing the traditional Ashtanga Yoga method at KPJAYI.
For me, Ashtanga practice is a transformative process. It is self-knowledge. It's about knowing ourselves and improving, being better people. When I practice, I feel like I am going beyond the physical, I can say that what I experience is my meditation.
I am an Authorized Level 2 Ashtanga yoga teacher and student of Sharath Jois Mysore SYC.
I teach classes to be able to transmit to my students the same thing that I feel when practicing Ashtanga Yoga.
After my pregnancy I can teach Yoga for pregnant and postpartum women, with greater experience since I have lived practicing during my own pregnancy and I could help more women enjoy practicing during this time of pregnancy.
Love and Motivation move me inward with each practice, discovering something different and necessary to move forward.
As a famous sutra says “NO PAIN NO GAIN”
“Practicing asanas takes only 2 hours a day. “Yoga occupies 24 hours.”

Toni Romero
Yoga came into my life at the end of 2010 almost as a vision of hope. Until then, a serious anxiety condition with extreme agoraphobia had kept me completely on the margins of society for years.
My passion for Yoga was love at first sight this year and I never stopped practicing and studying. More specifically, the discovery of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method changed my life completely and was a key element in being able to recover my health. I delved into the system until completing series 3 and beginning the exploration of series 4 (Sthira Bhaga Advanced A,B). I have been fortunate to be able to practice Ashtanga with various international teachers, highlighting Ty Landrum as the main reference.
I have also been able to learn with David Swenson, Kristina Karitinou, Laruga Glaser, Rolf Naujokat, Petri Raïsanen, Peter Sanson, Tim Feldmann, Gregor Maehle, John Scott, David Robson, Jelena Vesic, Guy Donahaye, David Garrigues, pranayama with Richard Freeman in 2012 ...etc and other lineages such as Ambra Vallo, Jani Jaatinen (Gokulacandra) Pablo Maha and studying Iyengar yoga from 2018 to 2020 with Elizabeth Suárez.
For more than 10 years I have dedicated myself to teaching in regular classes and teacher trainings. I am a registered RYT teacher with Yoga Alliance and currently a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Li Ping School. In 2014 I published my book "Rooms without Dreams" where I lyrically record my experience with the anxiety that I suffered for several years before discovering yoga. After being part of some of the leading yoga schools nationwide, I have located my Mysore program at Hara Yoga Barcelona

Nieves Lahuerta
Along the path of Yoga, I have gone through different stages. I started therapeutic Hatha Yoga following an accident and certainly, I had moments of “picking up and letting go of the practice” because I was very bored. However, my body made me return to my practice: I suffered back, headache and neck pain. It was then, when Yoga began to create this understanding between my body and my mind. My practice became daily and more motivating when I introduced myself to the Vinyasa method, which connected more with my personality.
In 2010, I discovered Ashtanga yoga in Ghana, Africa and it was then that my stage that marked my life in Yoga began. He changed completely and since then, he devoted himself to me with devotion, knowing clearly that this is my path.
Nieves Lahuerta is an Ashtanga Yoga Authorized Level 2 teacher and Student of Sharath Jois Mysore SYC
Throughout my life, I have studied different lineages where I delved into the techniques of Pranayama, Kriyas and Meditation.
I have also practiced and trained Hatha yoga/Dharma Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Jivamukti Yoga.
From the beginning, I knew that this would be a long road, so I complemented my training by traveling through India and Asia, to acquire experiences and knowledge that would complement my career as a yoga teacher. Every year I travel to India to continue practicing and training. My continuous travels also made me discover Bhakti Yoga.
Currently, I dedicate my daily practice to Ashtanga Yoga. Every year, I visit my teacher Sharath Jois at the Kpjay Shala, Sharath Yoga Center where I received his blessing to teach Ashtanga Yoga in the traditional method and with my Pranayama teacher, O.P. Tiwari Ji of Kaivalyadhama School.
The story:
The oldest remaining specific text was written by Patanjali, who summarised Ashtanga Yoga in the Yoga Sutras. Patanjali’s teachings embraced the eight limbs of yoga.
The modern history of Ashtanga Yoga comes to us through Sri T. Krishnamacharya, who learned the practice from his teacher Rama Mohan Brahmachari, who lived in the Himalayan Mountains near Lake Manasarovar. Krishnamacharya was also able to track down an old copy of a document known as the Yoga Korunta in the old National Archives of India in Calcutta, which detailed philosophies, asanas, bandhas and many other elements of Ashtanga yoga.
This was passed down to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who spent many years studying and teaching under him.
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois is widely regarded as having popularised modern Ashtanga Yoga, establishing the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, KPJAYI. and devoting his life to the practice before passing away in 2009. The teaching was then passed down to his grandson, my teacher R. Sharath Jois who is currently in India/Mysore. Sharath Jois opened the Sharath Yoga Centre in 2019 and continues to spread the teachings of yoga.
This method of yoga involves synchronising the breath with a progressive series of postures, a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. The traditional teaching form is called Mysore Style. It is named after the town of Mysore, located in the South of India.
Mysore Style classes:
“Mysore” is the city in India where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois tought Ashtanga Yoga for more than 60 años. Nowadays, his grandson Sarath Jois has continued teaching in Mysore.
In this particular style, students are taught the sequance of postures little by little, each student at their own pace.
The teachers adjust and correct individually, and add postures according to the needs and particularities of each person. This is the traditional way in which Ashtanga Yoga is taught and the best way to gradually build a solid personal practice.
In this style of class, students can enter the room and start their practice at any time within the proposed time frame.
